Founded own company with offices in UK and France in 1987 after 20 years in high-tech industry. Combines high-level industry and consulting experience with a successful record in international trade and business journalism. Former IBM systems engineer. Became regular contributor to the Economist, BusinessWeek, Newsweek, New Scientist (European editor), Computerworld, SCRIP, Electronics and the BBC, as well as other industry publications in eight countries. Managed Regis McKenna's southern Europe operation 1985-87.
